2024 Summer Season, Week 9
I'm going to make an early call: anime of the season is Bye Bye, Earth.
by Morganna Nikolaevna

Although I will say Bye Bye, Earth isn't particularly remarkable. I am also finishing season 4 of DanMachi in order to prepare for season 5. I really wish it didn't get a season 5, because now I actually have to finish season 4, and boy is it boring. The pacing is so slow it fills like filler. I think the last four episodes they fought a single monster? Ugh.

0 Figure 1 Bye Bye, Earth, Episode 8
Belle draws Runding and prepares to duel Kir Royale to the death.

Episode 8 of Bye Bye, Earth begins with Sherry inviting Belle to a ball at the castle as a way of thanks. When she arrives, however, Sherry puts her in a dress (tomboy feminization) to prepare her for the evening. At the ball Sherry sings for Belle. Kitty the All arrives and dances with Belle. Adonis learns of his father's death at Katakombe at the hands of Gaff and challenges him to a duel. Kir arrives at attacks Gaff after he refuses Adonis challenge, and their God commands them to strike Kir down. Kir's sword, like Tiziano's, has become corrupted. God relays a message through Sherry: Belle Leblanc is ordered kill Kir Royale. Just as the order is given, he arrives in the ballroom. Belle draws Runding for her final divine trial and begins their duel. Quickly, Belle, realizes her blade can cut Kir, but Kir's attack wound Belle. Belle realizes that the divine tree, much like Tiziano's and now Kir's sword, consumes soloists. And, just as birds are divine messengers of death, Nidhoggs are messengers of the divine tree. Belle lands a decisive strike on Kir, who tells her she has no regrets shortly before crumbling to dust. Following her victory, the king prepares the keys for Belle's (and Adonis') final trial. Adonis tells Belle he lives by spreading "rot", and tells her he wants to be free of this cycle. Belle invites him to journey with her, but remains hesitant.

The Mayonakas celebrate their idol concert on stage after the power is restored.

The meet-up, ran by Tsuma-shi (a famous streamer), is split into segments: a collaboration and a solo segment. In the green room they meet with other content creators to prepare for their collaborative segments. The Mayonaks are paired for a singing segment, and because the Outlaw Kids are a no-show Fu gets paired with Shura, followed by a game of red-light green-light with Tokage. The Outlaw Kids show up late for the game, and Tokage wins with a single jump and profess their love for her. Ichiko does a cooking segment against Ken and, after walking off stage to buy ingredients herself, creates a stunning dish of almond tofu (instead of Mapo Tofu).

Live goes mad after accidentally drinking a drink containing garlic causing her to go mad before her final collaboration segment, but her competition, Plumb Wrong Logic, was revealed to be having an affair, ending the segment early. Leading into the solo segments the venue suddenly loses power, and Masaki grabs the disgraced Plumb Wrong Logic, but he can't fix the issue. Regardless, the Mayonakas decide to begin their song in the dark. Masaki finds a fangirl who cut the power, punches her in the face, and restores power to the venue while the Maynonaks are on stage, creating a grand finale.

Julius imprisons Will and tells the arena he will be Elfaria's successor. Will breaks free of the imprisonment and swiftly incapacitates Will's two friends. Will's mirror images collapse, as Will (and the Crowd) realizes his friends were controlling his mirror images to create the illusion he was actually using one of Elfie's arts. Julius is still able to create weaker mirror images defenselessly, but will breaks through the illusion and quickly strikes the real Julius, landing his first hit of the match.

Will tells Julius that he and Elfaria were raised in the same orphanage. He's seen and studied all her spells. He knows the strengths and weaknesses of her magic. Enraged, Julius attempts to overwhelm Will offensive spells, but he's able to parry and dodge all of them. He catches up to Julius and lands a final decisive blow. Other Remarks

My Gitzo Systematic tripod and right-angle arm came in. I may make a seperate post about them either tomorrow or Monday (I get Monday off!). I may still have to buy a few extras for it to make it all work as smoothly as I want, though. Such an extra ball head. Ami Ami still hasn't shipped my Pon no Michi plushies. I think they got delayed. Still no word on when the Nord Grand 2 will be in stock at B&H Photo, either. Although given that I just the Yamaha YC61 less than a few months ago I hope B&H makes me wait!

Now that school has started my daily schedule is pretty fixed. I go to work, then after work it's light piano and calligraphy practice. I watch anime during the day, otherwise I'll run out of time after work. I wish I had more time for my hobbies, alas, I have to work.

Other Remarks

I ordered some piano scale books on Amazon. I've heard those are good for practice, so I think I'll give them a shot. I also am considering either getting a Gitzo Tripod (I already have one, but I want a right angle arm) or a Nord Grand 2 Piano for my next big purchase. I don't really need either... but it'd be fun to have both! The Tripod is probably more useful given that I already have two pianos, though.

2024 Summer Season, Week 7
Another drop this week. This time the last, for real? Maybe.
by Morganna Nikolaevna

I officially dropped Tasuuketsu: The Fate of the Majority this week. I will continue making threads on /a/ for it because I know no one else will, but after a two week hiatus coupled with the fact I still really haven't understood any of the episodes hitherto I figure it's just waste of my time. I was sort of kicking the can down the road on this decision because I know so few people are watching it I almost felt obligated to continue, but if it's not fun, why bother? Also, Nier was delayed, too. Oh well.

Other Remarks

I got a new computer following the failure of my AIO in my old one. It was another prebuilt, but this time from iBUYPOWER instead of Falcon Northwest. The fact that my previous two Falcon Northwest PCs failed, and that their prebuilts cost literally double the iBUYPOWER. Perhaps the construction is better with the Falcon, but previous failures coupled with the astronomical cost just made me hard-pass this time.

2024 Summer Season, Week 6
There are so many randomly delayed anime due to the Olympics I don't get it.
by Morganna Nikolaevna

The Olympics delayed several anime this week, so if something is missing it's likely that. School officially stared this week, so it's now unfortunately much harder for me to watch all this anime a week. I think I'm back to watching it during school, which is always a bit krangled. Oh, and I dropped Too Many Losing Heroines!. That show is terrible. The characters are terrible. And I can tell the plot is going nowhere. In other words, it is a Japanese romance anime. But not a funny one.

Other Remarks

I'm still working on A Town With a Seaside View from Kiki's Delivery Service on the piano. My practice time has been greatly reduced thanks to school starting (ugh!). I still haven't started Volume 2 of Adult Piano Adventures, either. But perhaps that's for the best. Starting that when the school year is just starting as well may make things a bit too hectic.

2024 Summer Season, Week 5
Several shows didn't air this week due to the Olympics in France? Huh?
by Morganna Nikolaevna

There was no Tasuuketsu: The Fate of the Majority this week (or next, I think, it looks like there's big delays—production related issues, I imagine). So too with Wistoria: Wand and Sword. No episode, but I think it was delayed due to the Olympics? Perhaps it's for the best, too, because that show is stunningly weak, all things considered. I still think Bye, Bye Earth is, so far, the best anime this season, but it's hard to know how good it will be until we get to the end. Can such a show stick the landing?

0 Figure 17 Too Many Losing Heroines!, Episode 4

0 Figure 18 Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian, Episode 5
Kuze shortly after formally joining the student council.

Episode 5 of Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian begins with Kuze largely dismissing Alya's confession of love as a joke. Back at his apartment, Kuze tells Yuki he's planning to join the student council and help Anya become student council president (which upsets Yuki). The next day at school both Kuze and Alya feel nervous around each other (a trend which, I imagine, will continue). Alya eventually concludes her confession meant nothing and that she's not actually in love with him. At the end of the episode Kuze introduces himself to the student council.

Other Remarks

I spent the last two days making attempts at Nausicaa's Requiem from Nausicaa and The Valley of the Wind, but I think it's beyond my current skill level. Late today I switched (back) to an easier version of A Town With a Seaside View from Kiki's Delivery Service and I think that may be more manageable at my current skill level.
